Slow Food: Oliver's Artisan Breads in LA

If you’re based in Southern California and are looking for fresh, European style, organic sandwich bread, look no further: Oliver’s Artisan Breads provides natural, fresh-baked bread all over the region.

Originally called Oliver’s Backerei, the business was founded in 1994 by Oliver Zaenglein, a European-trained master baker. Oliver’s passion for great European bread meant that his breads were different than most, loaded with fresh herbs, an array of seeds and hearty grains. His breads had an elegant look, with more taste and texture than their standard American cousins.

Until today, Oliver’s, a USDA Certified Organic bakery, uses only the highest-quality ingredients and very rarely any sugars, dairy or fats. The staff of artisan bakers take pride in hand-shaping each loaf with love and care, and where possible they source their raw materials from local suppliers.

From six grain to whole wheat, classic sourdough and raisin & walnut loaves, Oliver’s products are 100% organic and many varieties are completely vegan.

To give back to the community Oliver’s also donate 10% of the profits from its retail line of breads to Bread for the World (www.bread.org), a non-profit organization fighting hunger in the US and abroad.
