The Shy Chef is a secret supper club in Berlin, Germany. Tucked away in a 19th century flat in Berlin’s bohemian district of Kreuzberg, the Shy Chef regularly cooks a delicious five-course set menu for up to six guests almost every night.
In the intimate setting of her own living room, guests get a genuine Berlin experience – a guerilla dining event in the home of a local Berliner.
With regards to the actual chef – well, the Shy Chef is called ‘shy’ for a reason, so she won’t let us give you that much information, we can tell you however that she has an international background, an enormous curiosity for food and an intense love for art and culture.
The Shy Chef has been cooking for years, starting off with a humble one-ring hot plate in London and moving on to a more well-equipped kitchen in Berlin, where she can happily attack any unsuspecting creme brulee with her cooking blow torch.
The Shy Chef finds her inspiration in the many places she has lived, including Scandinavia, Ireland and Italy.
As a supper club, the Shy Chef only accepts donations. A typical set menu includes asparagus cappuccino, scallops with an orange sauce, pancetta & leeks, mint-cured fillet of lamb with a goat’s cheese salad, fillet of cod with rhubarb salsa and walnut vinaigrette, milk chocolate creme brulee and warm berries, coffee and biscotti. Each course included a carefully matched wine.
