Handmade Berlin: fashion platform Berliner Klamotten

An arbiter of fashion cool, Berliner Klamotten gives dozens of local designers a platform for their latest collections by opening temporary showrooms. The concept has been going since 2004 and has supported over one hundred up-and-coming as well as established Berlin designers.

The concept, which is both an actual temporary shop as well as an online platform, brings together fashion designers as well as those working in photography, music and visual design to collaborate on novel forms of fashion concepts -  from fashion shows to styling or fashion shoots.

Under the motto ‘support your local hero’ Berliner Klamotten has also launched its own limited edition  collection of T-shirts and tote bags in support of local design talent.

Anyone heading to the German capital in search of independent shops and artisan crafts should check out the list of partners and stores on their website, which includes innovative young designers such as Aehrenkranz, known for functional bag design, beautiful shopMein Laden, which stands out with its vintage design and handmade accessories, as well as more conceptual concepts such as Verve Gallery, which brings together fashion and art in one space.
