Demuth’s restaurant in Bath has been delighting veggies and omnivores alike for the past 21 years, with freshly prepared, locally-sourced food that’s always presented with style. For those who’ve enjoyed the dishes so much they want to bring them into their own kitchens, a visit to the restaurant’s cooking school is a culinary treat.
Cookery classes for vegetarians can be difficult to find, as most schools focus on all types of cuisine, including those at the meatier and fishier end of the spectrum. For vegetarians who want to extend their kitchen repertoire in a meat-free environment, Demuth’s offers a wide range of classes, in lovely surroundings.
The Vegetarian Cookery School in Bath runs courses on how to cook delicious and exciting vegetarian food, in a series of instructive, hands-on courses. An ideal spot for a weekend break, Bath is one of the country’s most beautiful cities and provides the perfect backdrop to your educational journey.
Classes are held in small groups of up to 12 people, and focus on specific cuisines such as Indian, Middle Eastern Mezze, Italian and many more; there’s a full list of upcoming courses here. Classes typically run for the entire day, and cost £125, and each one is run by the restaurant and cooking school’s founder Rachel Demuth.
A professional vegetarian chef since the early 1980s, Demuth also co-founded Neal’s Yard Bakery in Covent Garden. An extensive traveller, she has brought her experience from many different cultures into the relatively new art of vegetarian cuisine.
