Slow Fashion - We've found the Slow Net-A-Porter

And its name is Fashion-Conscience.com. Founded by former glossy magazine journalist Lianne Ludlow, Fashion-Conscience.com is the first online fashion shop in the UK to mix ethical and eco-friendly values with high fashion.

When it comes to Slow Food, there is little gastronomic fare that is more stylish. But when it comes to Slow Fashion, well, we all know that too often ethical clothes can be a bit dull. Fashion-Conscience.com knocks that on its head.

The online store does for ethical fashion what Net-A-Porter does for mainstream fashion – essentially it finds the most desirable, stylish and, in this case affordable, ranges and makes them easily accessible.

Its pieces regularly feature in fashion magazines and weekend newspaper supplements, such is Ludlow’s talent for spotting great items that ring with the season’s hottest looks without the built-in obsolescence of mainstream high street fare.

Ludlow trawls the world, virtually, for the most stylish organic, fairtrade, sustainable, vegan and recycled collections. She edits out the best pieces to make shopping easier and even helps by showcasing whole looks to try. Right now she’s championing a “sleek and chic” mannish look, and Bodycon done in feelgood sustainable fibres.

A word of caution; there are so many gorgeous pieces on the site right now that you might find yourself indulging wildly. My favourites are anything by US designer Doucette Duvall, this fantastic Mad Men-esque dress from Komodo and this Ruby Rocks fairtrade trench-style coat.
