Amsterdam Special: Culinary snack bike tour

For those of us who love our food perhaps a little bit too much, the prospect of a holiday that allows for indulgence and exercise is a very good one. The Amsterdam Culinary Snack Tour offers tourists the perfect bike-and-bite combination, which makes for a memorable addition to your itinerary.

Costing around £28 per person, the tour lasts three hours and takes you through medieval Amsterdam, taking in some of its most beautiful sights on the way (later on you’ll get to experience some of its most delicious flavours, too). You won’t need to bring your own bike, as it’s possible to hire both cycle and helmet as part of your ticket price.

All tours are escorted by a local, English speaking guide and start in the centre of Amsterdam city. The best way to see Amsterdam is, of course, by bike – so if you’re not already a regular cyclist, this could be a fun way to discover a new city on two wheels.

If the ‘culinary’ element of the tour is what really piqued your interest, this part is well worth working up an appetite for! Sample local favourites including ‘augurk’ (gherkin), Old Dutch cheeses with ‘harinkie’ (herring) along with a generous helping of Dutch gin (and, I’m sure, plenty of Amsterdam’s delicious and world-renowned chips with mayonnaise!).
