Cool cycling: Doodle a day with a bicycle for Good magazine

How is your doodling? Pretty good we expect, it being the art form of Slow Living (inadvertently kicks off debate on Slow Life art forms). No matter anyway, because if you can hold a pencil and ride a bike – not necessarily at the same time – we’ve found a cool project to join in with.

Good, the excellent US quarterly magazine and website about all good stuff, and a jorg&olif favourite, runs a monthly Good Doodles project in which it encourages positive living by setting themes and asking for doodles about it. This month’s theme is “a day with a bicycle”.

To take part simply pick a day and avoid using any kind of carbon-burning vehicles (cars, buses, mopeds, etc.), and then draw a doodle that illustrates your experiences.

Good says the doodle can be as broad or as specific as you wish: “Did you go somewhere unexpected? Did you feel lost? Did you save money? Did the experience bring up any interesting thoughts or observations? A day with a bike can certainly mean different things to different people.”

Send your doodle by e-mail to projects@goodinc.com with the subject line “September DOODLE” in the subject header. Look on the Good website here to find more info on image formats and the like.

The deadline for submissions is September 12, and best doodler will win a GOOD T-shirt and free subscription (or gift subscription) based on overall quality of illustration, relevance to the theme, and clarity and flow.

If you need inspiration, check out the first two projects: “Solitude in the City” and “A Day Without Technology”.
