A tale of two cycle chic cities, join the London to Paris Bike Ride: Great Fashion Cycle 2010 with the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF).
In September last year, a great crowd of adventurous volunteer cyclists took to the streets in style as they donned EJF’s organic cotton slogan tees, designed by an A list of designers including John Rocha, Christian Lacroix, Alice Temperly, Allegra Hicks, Zandra Rhodes and Katharine Hamnett.
“The 2009 fashion cycle ride was AMAZING! I met so many lovely people and although every inch of my body is hurting it was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life!” Caroline Reader, Sept 2009
This year it happens all over again in the month of July and jorg&olif encourages you to sign up! From 14-18th July, there are four full days of Slow Travel through picturesque countryside, small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France– in the form of a 300 mile bicycle journey. This is then followed by an opportunity to bask in your cycling success within the ever so chic city of Paris.
The purpose? To raise essential funds and awareness of the many human rights and environmental abuses within the fashion industry. This includes many of the campaigns that EJF tirelessly works on throughout the year, including preventing child trafficking and exploitation, and campaigning for a global ban on toxic pesticides such as Endusolfan that are used within the cotton industry and kill over 20,000 people every year. Individuals and teams are both invited to put their pedal power to positive action. And if you want to see how fun the Great Fashion Cycle 2010 will be, then watch the short video diary of last year below.
